The Holy Quran : Chapter 88 : Al-Ghashiyah (The Overwhelming Event)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ
88:1. Has the story reached thee of the Overwhelming (Event)?

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ
88:2. Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,

عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ
88:3. Laboring (hard), weary,-

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
88:4. The while they enter the Blazing Fire,-

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ
88:5. The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,

لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ
88:6. No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari 

لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ
88:7. Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.


وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ
88:8. (Other) faces that Day will be joyful,

لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
88:9. Pleased with their striving,-


فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
88:10. In a Garden on high,


لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً
88:11. Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:



فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
88:12. Therein will be a bubbling spring:


فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ
88:13. Therein will be couches, raised on high,


وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ
88:14. Goblets placed (ready),


وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
88:15. And cushions set in rows,


وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
88:16. And rich carpets (all) spread out.


أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
88:17. Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-


وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
88:18. And at the Sky, how it is raised high?-


وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
88:19. And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-


وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
88:20. And at the Earth, how it is spread out?


فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
88:21. Therefore do you remind, for you are one to remind.

لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
88:22. You are not one to manage (their) affairs.

إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
88:23. But if any turn away and disbelieve,-


فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ
88:24. Allah will chastise him with a mighty Chastisement,


إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ
88:25. For to Us will be their return;


ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ
88:26. Then it will be for Us to call them to account.
