The Holy Quran : Chapter 89 : Al-Fajr (The Daybreak) 

 

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

 وَالْفَجْرِ

89:1. By the Dawn

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ

89:2. By the ten Nights;

وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ

89:3. By the Even and Odd (contrasted);

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ

89:4. And by the Night when it passes away;-

هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ

89:5. Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand?

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ

89:6. Did you (O Muhammad)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)?

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ

89:7. Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars,

الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ
89:8. The like of which were not produced in (all) the land?

وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ

89:9. And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?-

 وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ

89:10. And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes?

الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ

89:11. (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands,

فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ
89:12. And heaped therein mischief (on mischief).

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ
89:13. Therefore did your Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements:

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ

89:14. For your Lord is Watchful.

فَأَمَّا الْإِنْسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ
89:15. Now, as for man, when his Lord tries him, giving him honor and gifts, then says he, (puffed up), "My Lord has honored me."

وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ
89:16. But when He tries him, restricting his subsistence for him, then says he (in despair), "My Lord has humiliated me!"

كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ لَا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ
89:17. Nay, nay! but you honor not the orphans!

وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ
89:18. Nor do you encourage one another to feed the poor!-

وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَمًّا
89:19. And you devour inheritance - all with greed,

وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا
89:20. And you love wealth with inordinate love!

كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا
89:21. Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder,

وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
89:22. And your Lord comes, and His angels, rank upon rank,

وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ
89:23. And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him?

يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي

89:24. He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!"

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ
89:25. For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict,

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ

89:26. And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind.

يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ
89:27. (To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction!

ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً
89:28. "Come back you to your Lord,- well pleased (yourself), and well-pleasing unto Him!

 فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي

89:29. "Enter you, then, among My devotees!

وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي
89:30. "Yea, enter you My Heaven!"
