The Holy Quran : Chapter 69 : Al-Haqqah (The Sure Truth) 

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

الْحَاقَّةُ

69:1. The Sure Reality!

مَا الْحَاقَّةُ

69:2. What is the Sure Reality?

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحَاقَّةُ

69:3. And what will make thee realize what the Sure Reality is?

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌ بِالْقَارِعَةِ

69:4. The Thamud and the Ad people disbelieved in the Day of Noise Calamity!

 فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِالطَّاغِيَةِ

69:5. But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning!

وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ

69:6. And the Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent;

سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَانِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى الْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ

69:7. He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that you could see the (whole) people lying overthrown in its (path), as if they had been roots of hollow palm- trees tumbled down!

فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُمْ مِنْ بَاقِيَةٍ

69:8. Then see you any of them left surviving?

وَجَاءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَنْ قَبْلَهُ وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَاتُ بِالْخَاطِئَةِ

69:9. And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin.

فَعَصَوْا رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَابِيَةً

69:10. And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty.

إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَى الْمَاءُ حَمَلْنَاكُمْ فِي الْجَارِيَةِ

69:11. We, when the water (of Noah´s Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark),

لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَا أُذُنٌ وَاعِيَةٌ

69:12. That We might make it a Reminder unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance.

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ

69:13. Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet,

وَحُمِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَاحِدَةً

69:14. And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed at one stroke,-

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ

69:15. On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass.

وَانْشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ

69:16. And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy,

وَالْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰ أَرْجَائِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَانِيَةٌ

69:17. And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them.

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنْكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ

69:18. That Day shall you be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that you hide will be hidden.

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَيَقُولُ هَاؤُمُ اقْرَءُوا كِتَابِيَهْ

69:19. Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read you my Record!

إِنِّي ظَنَنْتُ أَنِّي مُلَاقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ

69:20. "I did really think that my Account would (One Day) reach me!"

فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَاضِيَةٍ

69:21. And he will be in a life of Bliss,

فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ

69:22. In a Garden on high,

قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ

69:23. The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near.

كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي الْأَيَّامِ الْخَالِيَةِ

69:24. Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past!

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِشِمَالِهِ فَيَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَابِيَهْ

69:25. And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me!

وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ

69:26. "And that I had never realized how my account (stood)!

يَا لَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ الْقَاضِيَةَ

69:27. "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me!

مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّي مَالِيَهْ ۜ

69:28. "Of no profit to me has been my wealth!

هَلَكَ عَنِّي سُلْطَانِيَهْ

69:29. "My power has perished from me!"...

خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ

69:30. (The stern command will say): "Seize you him, and bind you him,

ثُمَّ الْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ 

69:31. "And burn you him in the Blazing Fire.

ثُمَّ فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَاسْلُكُوهُ

69:32. "Further, insert him in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits!

إِنَّهُ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ

69:33. "This was he that would not believe in Allah the Most High.

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ

69:34. "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent!

فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيمٌ

69:35. "So no friend has he here this Day.

وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ

69:36. Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds,

 لَا يَأْكُلُهُ إِلَّا الْخَاطِئُونَ

69:37. "Which none do eat but those in sin." 

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ

69:38. So I do call to witness what you see,

وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ

69:39. And what you see not,

إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ

69:40. That this is verily the word of an honored messenger;

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَا تُؤْمِنُونَ

69:41. It is not the word of a poet: little it is you believe!

وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

69:42. Nor is it the word of a soothsayer: little admonition it is you receive.

تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

69:43. (This is) a Message sent down from the Lord of the Worlds.

وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ الْأَقَاوِيلِ

69:44. And if the messenger were to invent any sayings in Our name,

لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِالْيَمِينِ

69:45. We should certainly seize him by his right hand,

ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ الْوَتِينَ
69:46. And We should certainly then cut off the artery of his heart:


فَمَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَاجِزِينَ
69:47. Nor could any of you withhold him (from Our wrath).

وَإِنَّهُ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
69:48. But verily this is a Message for the God-fearing.

وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُكَذِّبِينَ
69:49. And We certainly know that there are amongst you those that reject (it).

وَإِنَّهُ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ
69:50. But truly (Revelation) is a cause of sorrow for the Unbelievers.

وَإِنَّهُ لَحَقُّ الْيَقِينِ
69:51. But verily it is Truth of assured certainty.

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ
69:52. So glorify the name of your Lord Most High.
